The Right WMS for Automated Warehouse Systems
From shuttle solutions and automated small-parts or pallet warehouses to provisioning systems such as container conveyor technology or warehouse lifts: A wide variety of automation components can be combined to create an automated warehouse. Within a company the level of automation might vary between different warehouse locations or still be in the planning stage respectively.
For companies already using SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA this can be an opportunity for implementing SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). SAP EWM is a configurable standard system that provides an integrated Material Flow System (MFS). With the MFS you are able to connect programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and map reporting points, storage and retrieval machines, conveyor segments, etc. In this way, one system manages the entire material flow across all automation components.
