SAP Fiori was originally introduced to provide cross-system self-services as web services, such as vacation requests or approvals, but has now become the central concept for SAP user interfaces. It covers all business functions and serves as the new user interface for SAP S/4HANA.
SAP Fiori enhances user-friendliness with its modern and ergonomic design as well as its dialogue-based handling.
It centers around a role-based and context-sensitive provision of functions. The goal is to not overwhelm users with unnecessary options, but guide them through transactions in a comprehensible manner.
In addition, you receive a customizable dashboard, the SAP Fiori Launchpad, which you can arrange individually based on your frequently used applications and relevant key figures. It does not matter which application uses which backend – there are no system discontinuities for end users. As SAP Fiori uses a web browser with a responsive display, it works across all devices.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about SAP Fiori
One option is the cloud-based implementation using the SAP Business Technology Platform and the Cloud Connector specifically designed for this setup. The advantage of this architecture option is that there is no need for local infrastructure and system maintenance is handled by the provider.
Another option is the on-premises architecture, for which a Fiori Front-End Server is coupled with the SAP backend via Trusted RFC on a local server.
The »SAP Fiori Reference Library« provides information on which Fiori apps are already available (for S/4HANA customers). A fitting Fiori app may either already be available or a nearly suitable application can be customized to your needs.
Another approach is to develop a Fiori app yourself. For this purpose SAP provides developer tools, references, and libraries. Of course, there are SAP partners who can advise you on development or collaborate with you on the implementation – such as prismat!
The Launchpad can be used with any current browser. Its adaptive layout enables the display on any device including mobile devices.
As part of S/4HANA, SAP Fiori is continuously evolving as a strategic UI/UX concept. For example, in version 2.0, the viewport became more flexible and extended the desktop view on the left and right, while SAP Fiori 3.0 introduced new features for flat tiles – expanded function tiles that bundle information, including timelines and listings in real time.
