SAP MFS in a Nutshell
As one of the highlights SAP EWM Advanced provides a Material Flow System (MFS). It allows you to integrate and manage automated storage and conveyor technologies directly at the level of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and is also available with the »Embedded« version in SAP S/4HANA.
There are numerous possibilities with SAP MFS. For instance, you can connect an automated warehouse to your SAP EWM without the need for an additional warehouse control computer and will be able to manage it without the use of another software system. Warehouse tasks are divided into smaller tasks and communicated step by step via telegram to the relevant programmable logic controller (PLC). The fully automated storage and retrieval of the corresponding Handling Units (HU) take place seamlessly. Another excellent example for the MFS integration is the automated production supply via conveyor technology.
