With optimizations and new functionalities, IT and management face the question of updating their own system. The various options based on updates and new solutions as well as their respective architectural variants result in a multitude of possibilities. As an SAP partner, we can provide you with the necessary overview and – for example, in a joint strategy workshop – develop the suitable approach for you. We take into account SAP’s roadmap, your initial situation, infrastructure and target architecture, and the potential migration scenarios.

Of course, we also analyze what the respective migration or installation means for custom developments and add-ons that may be part of your current system. You will receive comparisons with SAP standard alternatives from us. Furthermore, we clarify the expected duration of the transition and develop solutions to limit downtime.

Upgrades, Release Changes, and System Integration

Cloud and S/4HANA

The SAP roadmap not only includes the expansion of the functional spectrum but also large-scale changes.

Cloud

On one hand, there is a strong focus on cloud-based software. We at prismat are also helping to shape this transformation. With our prismat/RAKETE we leverage the advantages of various cloud scenarios. Accordingly, we can advise you on SAP’s cloud portfolio as well as on variants and differences – for example, between the Public Edition and the Private Edition of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud – and work with you to develop your own cloud strategy.

SAP S/4HANA

On the other hand, the Business Suite and thus the SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) will be replaced by the end of 2027. Even now, innovations – including those in the area of logistics and supply chain management – are only aimed at SAP S/4HANA. The transformation to SAP S/4HANA is therefore a necessary step. But don’t worry, for this challenge you can also benefit from our project experience.

Best Practice Examples of S/4HANA Transformations

The following project examples from various industries show that there is no one-size-fits-all transformation. Instead, it is important to consider the individual situation and objectives to determine the appropriate path.

Example A:

For multiple warehouse locations of a company in the food industry, SAP EWM (already with a HANA database) was migrated to SAP S/4HANA in a decentralized scenario. This is considered a »classic path« by many companies. Nevertheless, there are several aspects to consider when taking this step, which we can share with you based on our experience.

Example B:

Instead of a release change for the existing SAP EWM, a customer from the discrete manufacturing sector opted for a migration to SAP S/4HANA (decentralized). As a result of this decision, the customer not only leverages the technological advantages of the HANA technology but also the functional advantages of the S/4HANA release, which is now several years ahead of the previously announced SAP EWM release.

Example C:

A customer from the retail sector was using SAP EWM with a material flow system. Instead of aiming their S/4HANA transformation towards a decentralized system, they have opted for an S/4HANA Embedded EWM. By returning a decentralized scenario to an embedded EWM, the company accomplished significant cost savings (e.g., by eliminating three EWM systems) and various process simplifications.
